Hi Marie,

We are sorry that you have been a victim of fraudulent activity perpetrated by a third party, unaffiliated with CashNetUSA. The fraudulent collectors fraudulently claim to be from a law firm or collection agency that represents various lenders including CashNetUSA.  CashNetUSA has undertaken great effort to protect our customers against these fraudulent collectors and have posted warnings about them which can be found at http://www.cashnetusa.com/cons…..er-notices.  CashNetUSA, other lenders, and the Online Lenders Alliance have been working with state and federal authorities to investigate the issue of fraudulent collectors.

As Mr. Ryan Lewis indicated to you, it appears that the fraudulent collectors have a source that has provided them with consumer information.  However, CashNetUSA does not believe that we are the source of that consumer information or that there has been an internal technological security breach of our system is a source of the fraudulent collector intelligence.

You've done everything correctly by reporting this scam. Unfortunately, once these fraudulent collectors have your information, there is not anything we can do to stop them from contacting you.  However, you are doing the right thing by not engaging them and hanging up on them when they call.

We encourage you to report these incidents and to provide any and all information to these authorities. To report to the FTC, you may use this link. Make sure you reference "fake payday collection fraud." The Federal Trade Commission ("FTC") websites provides more information regarding protection of one's personal information online and useful tips for consumers to avoid fraud (http://www.ftc.gov and onguardonline.gov).

We take our customer's privacy very seriously, and we use cutting edge technology to do our best ensure the security of our customers' personal information.  We are happy to personally answer any of your questions.  Please respond to us at support at cashnetusa.com.

Today I received a phone call from Private stating I had a payday loan with CashNetUSA and that he wanted to know when I was going to be home because he had papers he needed me to sign to go to court with.

As I was talking to him I went to Casenet for this works in MO to let you see if you are going to court for anything and guess what there was nothing there that wasn't supposed to be there.

Then in turn he gave me a number when he couldn't answer any questions I asked him.  He said he would call me back tomorrow after I found out what had happened.

OK so no I call this 855-708-2197 number and this lady answers and says she works for Kaden Assets and that if I pay her $844.44 that the loan would be paid in full and she would send me out a letter stating that.  I said I never got anything from anyone saying what they both were talking about.  She then went on to say that if I go to court it would go up to $3,822 because of court costs and lawyer fees.  She told me I would have to talk to her before he came for once he comes with the papers then the court date would be filed and she could not help me anymore.

So is this real or not?  I had a loan with them and paid it off.  Now my ex had control of my checking account while I was sick and paid stuff and had money but I just thought it was from work for he was taking care of the checking account.

I know I didnt take out any loans but they keep telling me I have one and that if I dont pay they will arrest me and take me to jail.

Is this true and can this happen?

People for years have been getting threatening, harrassing calls from a company whose phone number is 310-853-3491.

They are phishers…looking to gain authorization to take funds out of the victims checking account.

Upon researching this, I discovered this;

http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx…..0-853-3491

On that web page a poster put this in;
Oh, and don't bother contacting Cashnet USA about the calls.  Their "fraud" department could honestly care less.  Their "investigation" is merely a means of buerocratic CYA.  I would even be surprised at this point if actual law enforcement is involved in any shape, way or form at this time.

There is a good chance that the information these crooks have on us was obtained from Cashnet USA – either from a database leak or from a collector that was once authorized by Cashnet to call on delinquent customers.  The other chance is they have access to Teletrack, and pulled all of our information off of there.

Now I never got a call from this people before. Until today, ironically just 1 business day after your company withdrew the funds from my bank for my payday loan.

Do u have any comment regarding what has been alledged?

I should add, I by no way mean to implicate this company in anything weird. But…others have. And  it is already out there on the net. And….I did get calls from this 310# today at both my home and work.

Hi Angela,
It sounds like you are the victim of a fraudulent scam using our name to seem legitimate. Please do not give them any additional personal information or money. We have a full fraud team who work closely with authorities to prevent and manage cases of fraud. The safety of our customers is very important to us. Please call 888.801.9075 to speak with one of our CashNetUSA fraud team members. Please provide them with the details of the incident that you shared here and anything else you can provide so we can share that information with authorities. For your reference, I've attached our tips on how to recognize fake collectors again.

- Recognizing Fake Collectors

Our in-house collectors follow strict policies and procedures, industry best practices, and comply with the law. These fraudulent collectors do not. You should be suspicious that a collection caller is fraudulent if:

You have never received a cash advance from/through CashNetUSA, Payday Advance, Cashland, Cash America or SuperPawn.

You received a loan with one of our businesses, but paid it back in full.

The caller threatens violence, intimidation or uses foul language.

The caller threatens arrest or other criminal action, or references your driver’s license or check fraud.

The caller threatens to garnish your wages.

The caller is unable or unwilling to provide loan agreement information or payment history when you ask for it.

According to some of the people who have received fraudulent collection calls:

The callers have a strong Indian (Asian), Middle Eastern, or other foreign accent.

The caller reads out your bank account, Social Security Number or date of birth (this is done by the fake collector to show legitimacy).

The caller has very poor English speaking skills.

I hope this has helped you. Please follow the steps I said to report to us any suspicious calls you may have received.

Hi Julie,

I am sorry to hear that you are being contacted by fraudulent debt collectors who are in no way affiliated with CashNetUSA.  Please do NOT give these scammers any additional personal information or give any credit to their claims that they are collecting on behalf of CashNetUSA.  I would encourage you to file a police report with your local police department. As you may have read in earlier posts, Cash America International, Inc. and its subsidiaries (CashNetUSA, Cash America, Cashland, Payday Advance and SuperPawn) along with many other lenders have been targeted by several unknown and illegal organizations that are making fraudulent debt collections calls and referencing our company’s name.

Filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) was a good first step (you can see the progress they are making to stop these scammers here), but I'd like to ask you to please phone our Customer Service Team at 888.801.9075 and explain that you were instructed to call from our forum to fill out a short incident report. I'll alert the team that you will be calling in. The Cash America family of companies values all of its customers, always obeys all collection laws and is working directly with federal and state authorities to stop these fraudsters. Your incident report can help us further this investigation to stop these scammers.

Please remember these steps if you continue to receive these calls:

·       Please be aware that the fraudulent debt collectors may have a lot of real information about you.

  • · Do not give out or confirm any personal information to the callers unless they are able to prove they are legitimate by providing you with a loan contract or payment history information.
  • · Tell them that you will not make any payments or give out any personal information unless the details of the original loan or payment history can be confirmed.
  • · It is OK to hang up on abusive or threatening debt collectors.
  • · Unfortunately, because we are in no way associated with these companies, we are unable to stop them from making the calls.

For more information, please refer to this FBI report on fraudulent debt collectors: http://www.fbi.gov/scams-safety/e-scams

If you also wish to file a report with the FBI, you may do so at this site: http://www.IC3.gov

Well I have been getting calls from these frauds since 2006 and I've stopped playing nice. As soon as I figure out who it is, I threaten them right back. I tell them the call is being traced and I flat out tell them I know they frauds. At first they were calling me up to 10+ times a day, this one guy threatened to come to home and beat me and my husband up even, it was bad in the beginning, but I just had to start getting mean back, now every couple months I get a call and I just flat out tell them I know they are frauds and that the call is being traced and hang up on them, they don't call back again for a few months. But this HAS EFFECTED MY CREDITYell…..I HAVE had since this began have had some mysterious accounts show up on my credit report that are not mine, so I have had to put an alert on my credit, which is preventing me getting credit. So this has gone far beyond just scammers, they've stolen my identity and have ruined my credit.

I am sorry to say but I think CashNet needs to compensate us victims somehow. Our lives are being destroyed and we being harassed and what is CashNet doing about….I've called your number, I've reported my case and what I have I got? NOTHING! I've gotten my identity stolen and my life ruined. Frown

Yeah I am bitter, I have had to deal with this crap for 6yrs now, I am sorry but a 'Sorry this has happened to you' from CashNet just isn't enough anymore…..I just can't believe that after six years these people haven't been caught….makes no sense….sounds like an inside job. I mean, HOW did these people get my information anyways? Confused Answer me that?Yell

Hi Brandi,
We're sincerely sorry to hear about your situation. Again, let us reiterate that these calls are NOT coming from CashNetUSA. I can assure you that we are working with authorities to identify and eliminate these scam rings.

Filing a report DOES HELP. Call us at 888.801.9075 to file a report; you can also file a report with the proper authorities here.

Thanks to people like you for taking the time to provide information to us and the relevant authorities. This has, in part, helped make progress towards eliminating these groups. You can read one of the examples of the success the FTC has had here.

Apart from fake collectors trying to get you to pay them money they're not owed, there can also be victims of identity theft. If you believe that your identity has been stolen, the FTC provides a guide for what to do if your identity is stolen here. Identity theft is a very serious issue and should not be taken lightly. An estimated 9 million people a year become victims.

Again, we are sorry for the difficulties you have had and hope the above information helps you address the issues.

I too have been victimized by several "companies" calling me for at least 5 years stating that I had a cash loan with CashNet usa. I have never taken a loan from your company. They have threatened me with jail, lawsuits, the safety of my family, putting a lien on everything I own, and threatened to beat up myself, my husband, and my children. Just recently, I was looking into a loan and getting information online. Afterwards, again these people started harassing me AGAIN. They used to only call my cell phone, but now I am getting calls at home as well. This time it from an agency in the USA (Buffalo, NY) who call themselves Cornerstone Resolution Group. They are threatening to sue me again stating that I defaulted on a loan from CashNet USA, but I have never received any information from them, and they only started calling 2 days ago after I filled out some information online. They are very rude and demeaning as are the others who seem to call from India or somewhere along those lines. I am SICK of these calls, and cannot believe that CashNet or anyone else has been able to stop this leak of information. It is unfair, and it has been going on for years!! Obviously, there is a extreme security breach along the lines. Its funny how I never had a loan from CashNet, but somehow these creeps obtained my information with your name attached to it. Cashnet needs to get to the bottom of this and help the victims somehow!!! They have called my home, my cell, my job AND my family…threatening jail time, and severe financial hardships to all of us, if I don't pay them!! I have alerted the FTC, the FBI, the AG for Florida, the police, the ICS, what else can I do?? Help!!

Hi, Allie.

We are sorry to hear about the harassment you have been experiencing from fraudulent scammers. It appears they are using our name to seem legitimate. I can assure you that they are not affiliated with CashNetUSA and have not obtained any information about you from our records.
I did some research on the Cornerstone Resolution Group (CRG), and it appears it has an F rating (on an A+ to F scale) and is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The New York State Attorney General has also taken government action against it. You can find more information on that here.
At CashNetUSA, we have a full fraud team who work closely with authorities to prevent and manage cases of fraud. Filing complaints with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Florida Attorney General were all great steps to take, but I'd like to ask you to call 888.801.9075 to speak with one of our CashNetUSA fraud team members. Please provide them with the details of the incidents that you shared here and anything else you can provide so we can share that information with authorities on our end. I'll alert the team that you will be calling in.
Please remember these steps if you continue to receive such calls:

-You probably know this as you have struggled so long with fraudsters, but please do not give them any additional personal information or money unless they are able to prove they are legitimate by providing you with a legitimate loan contract or payment history information.
-Tell them that you will not make any payments or give out any personal information unless the details of the original loan or payment history can be confirmed.
-It is perfectly fine to hang up on abusive or threatening debt collectors.
-Unfortunately, because we are in no way associated with these companies, we are unable to stop them from making the calls.

I hope this has helped you. Please feel free to reach out to us anytime, and rest assured that we are doing our best to help authorities put an end to these fraudulent scams.

These people are relentless. I have been trying for six years to get them to stop calling me. You would think after all this time someone would have caught them and stopped them. They just called me again today and threatened to turn their so called case over to the county court were I live and have a warrant issued for my arrest. I just laughed at them, told them go right ahead. I don't owe CashnetUSA anything and I got the proof. Just ignore them best you can. I know it is tiresome and I feel for everyone being harassed by these people. Just learn the numbers they call from if you have caller ID and avoid them and keep reporting them were ever you can.

Dear CashNetUSA people……come on do something more than just giving us a number to call everytime these morons call us to report them. It's doing NO GOOD AT ALL!!!!! Hell make it public on the news or something, get the FBI involved, scare the crap out these fraudsters, make them stop!!!! Because I am about to get an attorney and anyone who wants to join me….I am about to sue CashnetUSA for allowing my private information to be stolen and for all the harassment, hardship and heartache my family have had to endure for the last 6 years by these people….some one needs to be held responsible. YOU have done NOTHING to help me or any other victim. I'm sick and tired of the pats on the back and being told it's being investigated….you been investigating it for 6 years….come on people. This crap has ruined my credit, my life, the lives of my family, the constant harassment from these people you LET STEAL my private information from your company. Time for someone to stand up to the plate and take responsibility.

I got some phone calls last week from a company called "Federal Processing Services Inc." The first woman I spoke to told me she was "from Federal Processing, trying to reach *********** and was given this number as a contact." When I would not give her my daughter's information she told me that was fine because she had already spoken to my daughter's employer and had just faxed them papers to have her wages garnished. She also told me my daughter was under investigation for criminal check fraud and denied being a debt collector. After speaking to the "Federal Processing" rep. I called my daughter's employer an had them fax me a copy of the information they received. I called the number back that had come up my caller ID and spoke to another woman from "Federal Processing" (I recorded this call) She also told me that my daughter was under investigation for criminal check fraud and that I was interfering in a criminal investigation and she warned me not to do that. I asked her if she was with the federal goverment but she would not answer me. I asked her three more times before she admitted she was not. I told her she was breaking the law by disclosing information to me about a debt that was not mine. She ordered me not to call them again. A few minutes later a man from that company called (recorded) and told me same story about my daughter being investigated for criminal check fraud and that he was just about to send out the order to have her bank account frozen, but that he had noticed in the paperwork that no one had ever actually spoken to my daughter and that he was certain if he could speak to her she would be eager to settle the matter. I finally was able to speak to my daughter about all of this crap. She tol me had a payday loan from CashNet about a year ago. There is no way I will ever believe CashNet is not behind this! I believe they are the modern day loan sharks operating with this company. They break the law to collect, then try to act like innocent fellow victims, trying to get to the bottom of these fraudulent collectors. This has gone on for many years with many collectors breaking many laws. Poor CashNet! If the wanted these people caught, they would be caught!

This has gone on for many years with many collectors breaking many laws. Poor CashNet! If the wanted these people caught, they would be caught!

*CashNetUSA and third party lender funds are generally deposited via ACH for delivery next business day if approved by 9pm CT Mon. – Thu. or by 7pm CT Sun.

**Due to state and verification requirements, not all applicants for online loans may be eligible for instant approval by CashNetUSA or third party lenders.

***Some customers applying for payday loans or installment loans may be required to submit additional documentation due to state law and qualification criteria.

†CashNetUSA or third party lender does not perform traditional credit checks as part of its credit transaction approval process, but does verify applicant information via national databases including, but not limited to, Tele-Track and Clarity. If you have defaulted on past transactions, you may be declined for a cash advance from CashNetUSA.

‡Maximum funded amount for payday loans or installment loans depends on qualification criteria and state law. See Rates and Terms for details.

++Please see Rates and Terms to check the availability of online loans in your state. CashNetUSA is not a lender in all states. In some states, CashNetUSA will (i) act as a Credit Service Organization to arrange a loan between you and a third party lender, or (ii) connect you with a financial matching service.

Customer Notice: Payday advances should be used for short-term financial needs only, not as a long-term financial solution. Customers with credit difficulties should seek credit counseling.
