Self-help is the Best Help

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

A new report from the Federal Trade Commission warns of the dangers of so-called ‘credit repair’ services. These companies bombard consumers with emails, letters and pop-ups declaring a ’solution to your poor credit’. When in truth, many of these companies are unlicensed, fly-by-night operations that end up taking your money without providing any service at all.

Most honest financial consultants (the FTC included) will tell you that the only true way to improve your bad credit standing is through self-help measures. Paying off debts, finding ways to save and cutting back on unneeded expenses are traditional, but effective ways, to improve your credit standing.

One bad cycle that many consumers get trapped in is the circulating credit card debt. Most credit cards offer easy access to money, but come equipped with exceptionally high interest rates. Miss a payment or overdraw your limit and credit card companies will report this slip-up to credit bureaus, only further solidifying bad credit status.

However, short-term options such as payday loans and cash advances – when used responsibly and only in emergency situations – are a good way to overcome short-term cash needs without endangering your credit standing. Payday loans can help you out of a financial jam, without miring you in the cycle of high APR and debts that other forms of lending might.

No Credit? No Problem, with Payday Loans

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

We’ve all been in that situation before: some unexpected expense comes up, but the old piggy bank is a little light. It can be difficult for anyone to find the appropriate financial solution for unforeseen expenses, but it is doubly hard for those of us with no or poor credit. Not only will most banks or credit card lenders not approve those with credit issues, but even if they do, the process can takes weeks. And you need money now.

Luckily payday loans and cash advances solve both problems. With an inherent speed of funding, you can apply online for cash and receive the money next day. Best of all, these short-term financial solutions deal with smaller amounts of cash than traditional loans, mortgages or credit cards, so having poor or non-existent credit doesn’t interfere with the loan process.

Payday loans should never be used as a long-term financial solution. But when you’re in a pinch, need money quick and don’t want to hassle with long applications, payday loans and cash advances are your answer to a slow cash flow.

Payday Loan Industry working to Help Consumers

Friday, May 18th, 2007

Together CashNetUSA, the CSFA, and each of its members have announced a new advertising campaign in an effort to enlighten their consumers. For years the industry has pushed the true use of payday loans as being strictly a short-term solution. Well this obviously wasn’t enough as they have launched both TV and Print ad campaigns nationally stressing this issue.

As of July 31, the CFSA and its members must now abide by these guidelines:

– All members must adhere to a New Extended Repayment plan.
– No member will advertise with frivolous intentions.
– Each member must display a voluntary notice advising that payday advances are for short-term use only on all advertising materials.
– Help in the launch of a $10 million national public education campaign explaining responsible uses of payday advances.
– Each CFSA member store must display the CFSA member seal for consumers to see.

Payday loans are designed for short-term solutions to financial distress. They are by no means long-term solutions.

Payday Loan Myths, Cont.

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

Myth: Outspoken anti-payday “activists” are looking out for consumers best interests.

The reality is that much of the criticism surrounding payday loans is unfounded, unproven statements proliferated by anti-payday activists.

If they truly had consumer’s best interests at heart, they would realize that by running payday loan lenders out of business, they would be further limiting the already few options for short-term credit available. In most cases, these activists have taken it upon themselves to speak for the public – many of which rely on cash advances on a regular basis as a responsible borrowing alternative to bouncing checks, defaulting on loans or borrowing from scrupulous loan sharks.

For example, how does a $100 payday loan compare to other options?

$100 payday advance with a $15 fee = 391% APR
$100 bounced check with $54 NSF/merchant fees = 1,409% APR
$100 credit card balance with a $37 late fee = 965% APR
$100 utility bill with $46 late/reconnect fees = 1,203% APR.

Payday Loan Myths – Part 1

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

Myth: Payday loan lenders take advantage of the less-fortunate, young and minorities.

Truth: Payday loan critics have been successful in recent years at getting the American public to swallow this gross lie that cash advance lenders target the lower class. When in truth, most payday loan borrowers come from the heart of America’s middle class. They represent the stereotypical, hard-working adult, who simply may not have a financial safety net when unexpected expenditures arise.

The facts speak for themselves.*

-The majority of cash advance customers earn between $25,000 and $50,000 annually.
-94% have a high school diploma or better. 54% have some college education or degree.
-ALL payday loan borrowers have steady incomes and active checking accounts – which are required to take out a loan in the first place.
-42% own their own home.
-The majority are married and have children in their homes.

As always, you have to be suspicious of what you read. In truth, payday loans are a helpful, and often necessary tool, to help hard-working Americans deal with day-to-day issues.

What is a Payday Loan?

It happens to all of us: you’re short on cash or an unexpected expense arises and payday is a couple of days or even weeks away. What’s the solution? Payday loans. They are a quick & simple solution to get the money you need without long, tedious applications – approval is usually instant and you’ll get your cash advance next day. Most loans are between $100 and $1,500 and are a smart short-term solution for your cash needs.

Unlike other types of loans, payday loans can be awarded no matter your credit status. They are fast, easy and temporary – making them a great fit for those with poor credit or who need money quickly.

CashNetUSA is revolutionizing the payday loan industry by making it faster & easier for you to get your funds. Our secure site allows you to apply online from the privacy of your own home and get approved instantly. We will deposit your funds directly into your checking account, next day. Upon maturity your loan principal and fee will be automatically removed from your account.

When should I use a Payday Loan?

Our customers choose to use our loans for a variety of uses, however some of the most common are:

Unexpected Auto or Transportation Expenses
Staying on top of Household Bills
Medical Expenses
Paying off other creditors
Recreational Expenses or Purchases

Why Choose Payday Loans?

Besides the ease of use and speed of payment, payday loans may be a better choice for your temporary money needs than other options. The short-term fees attached to our cash advances are often less expensive than credit late-fees, bounced check penalties, or overloading high-rate credit cards.

Our payday loans are automatically funded and repaid – you should only take out what you can afford to pay back. We are safe, secure and private – you receive the money you need without the embarrassment of asking family members, friends or other creditors.

Five Ways to Save Better

Friday, May 4th, 2007

While payday loans and cash advances can be a great way to get you out of an unexpected jam, the best way to secure a bright financial future is to save. But with all the expenses that pop up in everyday life, saving for tomorrow is often easier said than done.

For that reason we’ve compiled five easy ways to keep more money in the bank, so even if you need to take out that payday loan once in a while, you’ll still be covered for most day-to-day expenses. It may not be possible to implement ALL of these tips, but if you can work one or two into your daily routine, you’ll be amazed how much cash will be in your bank account at the end of the month.

1. Go Public – Try to depend on public transportation whenever possible. By not relying on your car, you can save money on gas, parking, insurance and basic upkeep. Most cash advance customers use their loans for emergency auto repairs done on cars which they depend on for work. Why not stay a step ahead and ride the bus instead?!

2. Pack a Lunch – Eating out, grabbing coffee at the corner cafe and mid-day snacking can add up. Try to bring lunches from home, drink the office joe and keep healthy and cost-effective snacks at your desk for work time munchies. You’ll save dollars and most likely feel healthier too.

3. Head Chef – Eating out for dinner also racks up the old charges faster than you can say ‘check please’. Try to prepare meals in advance that you can save in the freezer for those hectic evenings when you’d be tempted to order in. Save dinners out for once or twice a month – this will save you tons of cash and make those special times even more special.

4. Are You Going to Read That? – We all have magazines and other subscriptions that just end up creating more clutter around the house. Cancel any subscriptions that you don’t really use. Cutting back to the basic channels on cable can also help you save more in the long run – and who really needs to watch the Swedish Home Decorating Channel anyway?

5. Call Waiting – Cell phones can be a serious drain on your funds. By only using your cell phone when necessary and switching to a ‘pay-as-you-go’ plan, you could save $35 or more a month!

Rely on some of these money saving tips to help you prepare for financial situations ahead. Cash advances and payday loans are always a great choice in emergencies, but it’s always nice to have a little cash tucked away for a rainy day.
